Chubby Trout in Elkhart

Been there twice. The first time I had the grouper sandwich, which was incredible. The second time I had the Pasta New Orleans, which was tasty, but it was way too greasy. Their crab cakes, calamari, and lots of other starters are really good.

Excellent food, just a bit on the pricey side. We just so happened to go on a night when they had a table of 35 people, but our waitress Cami was amazing and did her best to keep up with everything. They have a great selection of beer and a full bar. Fresh sushi and great smoked meats.

We went for lunch! I think there was a mixup with servers as no one saw us for half an hour. But when the hostess realized the mistake everything was perfect! The food is amazing!!! Doubt you can ever do wrong.

The Sushi is out of this world..I recommend it if you are ever in the area

Very nice place, but it was hot (it's also the middle of summer, so I get it!). The sushi is half off on Monday and is great, but be prepared to wait for sushi.

Quite a wait once we got our food ordered, but the food was great.

This place had a very cozy atmosphere! The calamari strip were very disappointing. Tasted like fish sticks from the freezer. The sushi absolutely made up for it. A bit pricey if you like Nigiri. An order is a single piece but worth it if you enjoy good sushi. They don't skimp on the slices of raw fish. I will be back next time I'm in Elkhart!

Our list visit was on 1/2 price sushi night on Monday. Very busy but wait staff kept our drinks coming until the sushi was done. A bit loud, so keep that in mind if its busy and you have some hard of hearing older folks in your party.

It was amazing. Unfortunately I am now gonna have to work over time.

My husband and I were impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. I planned our dental office a Christmas party here and was not disappointed. 12 people that never saw their drink 1/2 full before offered a refill. Order dessert, you will NOT be disappointed.

Go to the Chubby Trout if you like good food in a nice atmosphere. They have a large selection of craft beers on tap. Every plate I saw looked great. The sushi is fresh and delicious. Servers are friendly and attentive especially Destiny.

Our experiences at Chubby Trout have always been stellar. Several times we've visited during busy times, yet were seated very quickly. Also our service and quality of food have been wonderful consistently. We love to get the sushi and their burgers.

My scallops were undercooked and my pasta was soggy. It was my second time eating here and i didn't enjoy the food either time. I will not be returning in the future.

We loved everything about this place. The drinks were fantastic, I had a key lime martini. Wonderful sushi for an appetizer and the 34 carrot cake wad big enough to feed a family!!

First time back post shut down. Have been a fan of the sushi rolls but this last time both Cobra and Kamacazi rolls were half the thickness (diameter) from pre-shut down visits. Is this the new norm? Like the food but if this is the new portion size then menu price should reflect this. I hope to see the sushi roll portion size return.

This was a our first time visiting, and will definitely go back. Everything was very good and well prepared, and our server was awesome with recommendations, suggestions, and answering questions. They had like 27 craft beers on tap. A decent win selection, and a full service bar as well. We all were just tired and very hungry, so ate simply, but do want to return to try other things on the menu. Pictures are a pasta dish, fish tacos, and their Ryno burger.

This place is amazing. Great seafood, lots of beer, wine, cocktails and friendly staff. I left excited for my next trip here. If you're in the area, give it a shot!

If you want great food, great service, and great drinks, this is the place. My favorite restaurant by far. We drive an hour just to come here.

Pricey but the food is great!

Fantastic atmosphere, and the place was busy as ever. The steaks were great and the sushi was delicious! They also have a great beer selection that will satisfy anyone's taste buds.

Really one of the Best Burgers Ever! The Chubby Wubber. Cooked medium rare (sigh) but juicy. Bacon, swiss, mushrooms and sized perfectly. I hate a burger that is too big to fit in your mouth. The frys were oale but well done and nicely seasoned. Oddly, they have a sushi bar. The house brewed beers were hoppy and sophisticated. We even found a great tshirt in my size with long sleeves and a pretty hops logo.4 beers, lunch and the shirt ($25) was $80.We'll stop here anytime we are close.

Cami was our waitress. We were told 30-35 but had a seat within 20 minutes. It was very busy but our waitress kept up with everything. She explained the me in since it was our first time and was very welcoming. We expected it to be busy since it was a Friday night ight at 6pm but they also had a party of 35 people on top of a full house and still service was amazing. Great selection of food, smoked meats and fresh sushi. Great beer selection and cocktail list! We will definitely be back.

Fantastic local place. Food and service were wonderful. Try the crabcakes and pretzels for an appetizer. Excellent sushi menu, their rolls are excellent. Try the Chef Gil Roll and the Seaweed Salad.

As always food was delicious and service was great.

Nice clean, Bar and Restuarant with fresh Sushi in Elkhart, who woulda thunk dat... very good eats and at least twelve beers on tap.

well lets just say this carrot cake was delightful. more than enough to share. $$

New location, first time here at the new place. Building is beautiful, Cam did a wonderful job! As far as the food, I had the smoked prime rib. Had a great smell, had a good taste. Kind of like trying to eat a rubber band unfortunately. Will not have that again. If you have had Good prime rib, this place is not for you.Wife ordered Sushi. Prepare to wait. And then wait. Appetizer list is fish only except for frozen pretzels with mustard. Also, all of the prices went up, not a surprise for the new building, but not worth the extra money. Overall a decent place if you like sushi and don't mind waiting an hour, the smoked food will have to wait unit the next visit, if there is one. Look around if you want great food, stop here if you want a cool atmosphere.

I do refrigeration work for a local refrigeration. I had the opportunity to work in the kitchen area. Seeing the food getting may just made me so hungry. Finally got to eat here. It was so good that I will have to bring the family here soon even though we live an hour away!

Was good food and great service. Liked it and would come back here next time I'm in town. A close walk from several hotels.

New - better - location. Nice selection of fish, sushi and meat. I had the Prime Time Sandwich (prime w/sauteed onions and peppers and topped with cheese. You will need to use a fork to eat it. I added a little salt and the spicy horseradish and it was pretty good. The Cortney chips (kinda like a kettle chip) was good but they should add salt as soon as they are cooked. My partner had the perch basket and said it was very good. I gave it 4 stars only because we went for lunch and it really took too long.

Delicious! Great craft brews, from light to dark. For an appetizer we chose the not so lump crab cakes (patties). We frequent Baltimore, so a tab bit biased on claims of lump crab cakes. For our meals, we both picked with the fish sampler platter. The Chubby Trout is by far the best in our opinion. Overall it was a very good meal, and the staff were attentive and kind. Especially during COVID, mask required. We will be back for more! ❤

4.5 stars really, but I have to round down, because very very few restaurants are 5 stars. The food was above average and tasty. Serving sizes seemed proportionate to what a person would generally eat in a meal and the service was exceptional. Jordan was extremely attentive and gracious. T

My wife and I go to Chubby Trout regularly and have enjoyed it every time! The service is always excellent with experienced, knowledgeable staff. The food is terrific and the wide range of craft brews and specialty cocktails are delightful. Just last week we asked our server if they could make a “peppermint martini” (not on the menu) and not only did they oblige, it was fantastic! I highly recommend Chubby Trout!

Wow, wow, and wow! What a fantastic restaurant. This was our first visit, and certainly impressed. The atmosphere was very inviting. The hostess promptly seated us, and took our drink orders. Our drinks came poured nicely done. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable with the daily specials and with the menu. Appetizers came nicely made, entrees came better than expected, and we could not be more pleased. The food was exceptional! I definitely recommend Chubby Trout to all of my family and friends!

Seriously one of the best restaurants that Elkhart has to offer.

It’s just okay. Sushi was an hour wait. Small portions leave a hungry man wanting more. Great beer selection but underwhelming filet and REALLY greasy pan seared fish. Small place makes you feel cramped on a busy night, which is just about every night.Nice people but generally an underwhelming experience.

The food was great but I think the tables should be even more far apart as my mom has asthma and was worried about rona. Also the workers there should have to wear there masks correctly, the sushi cook had there nose stoking out which defeats the purpose

Seafood Restaurant - Good friendly atmosphere and prompt service. They serve various sushi and fish dishes at reasonable prices. The spider roll and crab cakes were well prepared. The only negative is the Wallby fish, which lacked taste.

Our first visit here...This place is fabulous! Service was quick, and our friendly waitress was honest about her favorite menu items. Sushi is phenomenal and I’m not ashamed to say I almost cried when I took that first bite. Yes. It’s that good. House made chips are heavenly. We are from 2 hours away but will definitely make the trip again!!

Seafood was really good. Had some tasty appetizers (shrimp and calamari). I has a burger for my entree, though, and it was a little dry and overdone, even though I specified "medium." But other than that, good service, pretty good food.
